In January, we shared the first official details Universal released on their new Epic Universe theme park opening in Orlando in 2025.  While news the park would have over 50 attractions and the details on the Celestial Park section of the park were enough to grab our attention, no one wanted to wait for details on the other four lands coming to Universal Orlando’s fourth gate. Today we are excited to share details on How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, which will take place between the second and third How to Train Your Dragon movies in the Berk timeline.

The Isle of Berk

Guests walking through the portal into the Isle of Berk will become Vikings of the island. The busy village will feature rolling hills, a sparkling lagoon with 40-foot-tall Viking statues, dragon houses, and local establishments. The Island of Berk will feature four attractions, themed dining locations, a live show, and character and dragon meet-and-greet experiences.

Berk knows that the guests of the Island want to try some of their exceptional culinary options! The village has opened its main gathering hall, Mead Hall, and has put together a menu that features a “variety of meats, fish, sandwiches, and more along with a collection of meads and ciders.” For those looking for a quick-service option, Spit Fyre Gill will be located near Fyre Drill and will have “delicious, hearty meals flame-seared by a helpful (unseen) dragon fry cook.” Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel will offer “quick bites at this festive racing-themed food stand in the Viking Camp.

Epic Universe Show

Universal Beijing Resort’s wildly successful “Untrainable” show that opened in 2021 inspired Epic Universe’s new Untrainable Dragon show. The dragon-filled live show “on an unforgettable journey with beloved characters Hiccup, Toothless, Gobber, and Astrid as they work together to solve the mystery of The Untrainable Dragon. This heartwarming story comes to life with captivating musical numbers, breathtaking sets and life-sized dragons soaring overhead.

Epic Universe Rides

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders gives Vikings visiting the island a dragon’s eye view of Berk. Thanks to Hiccup’s newest invention, a winged flying machine, guests will fly alongside Hiccup and Toothless and reach speeds up to 45 mph.

Vikings who like having options regarding how intense their theme park attractions are will love Dragon Racer’s Rally. Guests will decide if they want to take a ride on the “mild” or “wild” side before taking off with a dragon trainer “as they perform high-flying, gravity-defying, swooping, and soaring skills that are necessary to earn the accolades worthy of a true champion dragon racer.

Of course, the Island has a place for younger Vikings to explore! Viking Training Camp is where Junior Vikings will learn about dragons while they “climb, slide and explore their way through this sprawling interactive adventure play camp—featuring a Viking agility course, a Toothless-themed teeter-totter, baby Gronckle dragon climbers and so much more.

What day is complete without Ruffnut and Tuffnut causing trouble? In Fyre Drill, guests will split into teams on dragon-headed boats with water cannons “to compete to outscore and out-soak each other” while shooting at flame-like targets so they can practice putting out dragon fires.

The Photo Ops

The most exciting news, at least to this Night Fury fan, is finding out that guests of Berk will be able to visit Haddock Paddock and meet Hiccup, Toothless and maybe even “encounter other familiar Vikings and dragons while exploring Berk.”

And, of course, the Shopping

As guests leave the Island of Berk, they will even have a chance to commemorate their lessons with an array of merchandise available at “highly-themed shops like Viking Traders, How to Treat Your Dragon, Hiccup’s Work Shop, and Toothless’ Treasures.

Epic Universe Video Series

Universal has also continued its new video series, which showcases Epic Universe and features the creative team behind Universal Orlando’s new park. The newest episode gives viewers a peek at the attractions and experiences coming to How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.
