On August 13th, the Official Pokemon YouTube Channel released more information regarding Scarlet and Violet’s upcoming Hidden Treasures DLC. The latest news surrounded a mysterious Matcha spirit, new Paradox Pokemon, an upcoming Raid Battle, and an exciting event arriving this Winter! Therefore, we at Geek News Now are more than excited to share the latest information surrounding the upcoming Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC!
First, let us explore an old folk tale about the Matcha Pokemon, Poltchageist.
Don’t Drink Me, Please!

Many years ago, an old man was obsessed with the art of drinking tea. Due to his strict nature, this obsession drove him to exhaustion before passing away, all alone. His matcha container was then passed on from owner to owner, before eventually being left in an old shed to collect dust. As a result, the abandoned Matcha container sprang to life and gave birth to the Grass/Ghost Matcha Pokemon, Poltchageist!
As thirsty as one can be during their travels, you must pay heed when encountering this Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. Poltchageist has a unique skill in repairing anything with cracks and chips. Everything from old cups, toys, and even Tinkaton’s hammer; nothing is irrepairable in Poltchageist’s eyes. To do this, it scatters Matcha-like pollen onto the object it repairs.
However, it will also do this to people if they tea (heh) it off. If people get slathered with Poltchageist’s powder, their skin will become smooth and give off a bright glow. Eventually, they’ll suddenly feel incredibly tired and feel fatigued. This is due to Poltchageist sucking away their life force. Therefore, If you wish to avoid any conflict, simply greet it with a hearty “Nice tea meet’cha!”. Perhaps then you will be spared.
Scarlet and Violet; Paradox Round 2!

Deep Within Area Zero lies an army of monsters called Paradox Pokemon. Researchers who dared to venture into this forbidden zone have even stumbled across ones that closely resembled Legendary Pokemon such as Walking Wake and Iron Leaves. Now, two new Paradox Pokemon have suddenly appeared within Area Zero! Introducing Raging Bolt and Iron Crown!
Raging Bolt is a paradox form of Raikou. With it being taller and based off the Brontosaurus (Thunder Lizard), Raging Bolt can access its lightning powers quicker, wrapping the mane around its head to do so. Using its signature move, Thunderclap, Bolt will strike any foe that aims to attack it. It works similar to Sucker Punch and will cause flinching, but will differ in power.
Iron Crown, meanwhile, is a paradox form of Coballion. Completely roboticized, Iron Crown extends the horns on its head in order to strike foes with elegancy. With the use of its signature move, Tachyon Cutter, this Valiant Paradox Pokemon can attack foes two times in a row, even bypassing abilities such as Mimikyu’s Disguise and Eiscue’s Ice Face.
While the way to obtain these Paradox Pokemon is still a mystery, Iron and Bolt should be available during the Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disc DLC. Keep in mind, however, that Raging Bolt will only be available to encounter in Scarlet, while Iron Crown will only be encountered in Violet.
Mewtwo Strikes Again!

Now to the main event! A powerful Mewtwo will arrive on September 1st to challenge players in Scarlet and Violet’s Tera Raid Battles! The Genetic Pokemon will be set at level 100, with the mightiest mark, and have the Psychic Tera-Typing. In addition, you will only be able to capture one per save file, so don’t expect to capture multiple ones for a team (That’d be unfair). However, feel free to continue the challenge in order to reap the rewards if you have what it takes to defeat this powerful Pokemon.
Although Mewtwo seems unstoppable, Game Freak was generous enough to distribute the lovable, Mythical Pokemon Mew to players until the end of the Mewtwo raids on September 18th. The distributed Mew will be set at level 5, and have a randomized Tera-typing. So be sure to prepare well, for Mewtwo will only be available between September 1st and September 17th. In order to obtain Mew, you must go to the Mystery Gift option and type in GETY0URMEW to receive this Pokemon.
You know, this sort of reminds me of when Pokemon Sword and Shield did their own Mewtwo raid battle to celebrate the airing of Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back- Evolution on Netflix back in 2020.
Scarlet and Violet: Starter Squad!

Finally, the last piece of news for Indigo Disk. Starter Pokemon will return to the Indigo Disk this Winter! That’s right folks, all prior Generation 1-8 starter Pokemon will be available this Winter! Despite prior raids featuring a variety of starter Pokemon, not many others made their return to the Switch console, excluding Pokemon Home. Thankfully, when the Indigo Disk arrives, all 8 generations worth of starter Pokemon will be available in what will be called Spades.
Spades, in layman’s terms, are small outbreaks of Starter Pokemon. These Spades can only be found in Blueberry Academy’s Terrarium, so you’ll have to be very patient until Winter to encounter these special outbreaks.
And that’s everything covering the latest news surrounding The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask will launch September 13th, while the Indigo Disk will launch later this Winter. The pre-purchase for both parts of the DLC is available now in the Nintendo E-Shop.
