“Tales of the Jedi” is Getting A 2nd Season!

One of the best *animated* Star Wars Disney+ series is getting a 2nd season after all! No I’m not talking about Star Wars: Visions, although I could see a great argument for that being one of the best bits of Star Wars media from the last few years.

I’m talking about Tales of the Jedi! During the Clone Wars 15th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration 2023 Dave Filoni, the Executive Creative Director for Lucasfilm, confirmed that Tales of the Jedi is getting a second season!

Filoni (Center) at Star Wars Celebration 2023

Dave Filoni said this:

“Tales of the Jedi was so fun to do the first time, I decided to do some more. But far more-so, that’ll be fun. What has become apparent to me is that there is a very important thing that the Jedi have to do [sic] they have to pass on what they have learned. And so though I have gotten progressively busy in other aspects, I do take time to teach all of my younglings and padawans in animation. So I am using the Tales of the Jedi, and telling some stories, and I am giving some people there an opportunity to step up and direct, step up and write, step up and try to learn the ways of the Force as George taught me [sic] as now I hopefully will teach them so that Lucasfilm animation will be strong for years and years to come.”

I for one am very excited about another season of the beloved show.

Recap

For those of you out of the loop, the first season of Tales of the Jedi focused on two former Jedi who left the Jedi order: Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano. Over the course of six episodes we chronicled the growing disillusionment of these two characters with the Order and how they each took action in completely different ways. We watch Dooku’s steady decline into morally gray territory throughout his career alongside his apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn leading up to his pledge of loyalty to Darth Sidious.

Ahsoka’s episodes chronicle her arduous training under Anakin to survive a clone onslaught, hiding out after Order 66, and her ultimately taking the fight to the Empire and the inquisitors. We are also filled in on what exactly happened to Yaddle (voiced by Star Wars fan favorite Bryce Dallas Howard) in-between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Tales of the Jedi is a fan favorite in which there is very little to criticize. Collider gave it an A grade stating: This is not a show just about the adventures of the illustrious Jedi; it’s a cautionary tale and a tragic one. It touches on some of the best stories to come from the animated Star Wars shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. CNN gave the series a 9/10 and said: “if you take it as a given that “Star Wars” is going to indulge in what’s derisively referred to as “fan service,” then by all means, do it as well and as slickly as this.

Closing Thoughts

Who or what exactly season two of the show will center on this time Filoni did not say. But it is exciting to think that we will get some new stories out of new blood who have worked closely with Filoni over the years. What are your thoughts about the continuation of this mini-series? Have a favorite episode?

Have a Jedi in mind that deserves a few episodes? Leave out your comments down below. Personally I would love an episode focused on Ahmed Best’s character, Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. For more Star Wars content be sure to subscribe to GeekNewsNow! As always stay geeky out there!
