The Genshin Impact 3.5 update is finally well under way! On February 17th, Zach (Aether), Amber (Deyha), and Khoi (Albedo) hosted the official livestream, showcasing not only a new Archon Quest, but also all the new events coming soon. With so much to cover, and so much to look forward to, we at Geek News Now are more than excited to share everything we learned about the upcoming update.
Genshin Impact; Return To Abyss:

To begin with, let’s start with the unique Archon Quest: Caribert. Travelers will reunite with Dainsleif, as we uncover more about what happened to the nation of Khaenri’ah 500 years ago. However, accompanying us this time is Favonius Knight Calvary Captain Kaeya. As many are well aware by now, Kaeya is indeed a descendant of the people of Khaenri’ah, so it’ll be very interesting to see how the interaction between our two mysterious companions plays out.
In addition, something seems to be going on within The Chasm. A mysterious power is affecting the Hilichurls within the underground area. Could it have something to do with the mysterious artifact located deep within? And what would the Abyss Order want with such power?

Alongside this new storyline, we’ll also be running into two new enemies: a new Abyss Herald, and Black Serpent Knight. For those unaware, An Abyss Herald is a unit that specializes in powerful elemental attacks. When their health drops below half, they create an elemental shield, increasing their skill and attack power. What powers this Herald wields, we still don’t know.
As for the Black Serpent Knight, this new enemy specializes in Dual-wield Axes. Serpent Knights are slow when using elemental skills. However, if you attempt to shield yourself against their attacks, they will absorb that energy and gain both them and their allies buffs. Be careful, as this one seems to be more powerful than prior Knights.
What awaits us in the Genshin Impact Archon Quest: Caribert? Will we finally uncover the secrets of the Abyss? All will be answered when the quest becomes available March 1st.
Hangout with Hatsune Mi- I Mean, Faruzan!

Faruzan of Sumeru. Image from theloadout.com
Speaking of Story Quests, we’ll finally get a chance to know the ever-elusive Faruzan. Despite having been available for wishing back in December, not much was done wih this character. Many fans and players even compared her to Hatsune Miku, as far as design was concerned. However, her backstory and skills make her a rather interesting character.
As a Professor of the Akademiya, her studies in Haravatat (History of Language) and Kshahrewar (Mechanical Studies) earned high praises amongst scholars. However, Despite appearences, Faruzan is rather quite old. She explored a temple once belonging to the Scarlet King, and triggered a trap, putting her in Stasis for 100 years, forcing her to relive Sumeru’s hidden past. Upon returning 100 years later, students have stated her knowledge was a little outdated for modern day learning. On the other hand, she had much to share, and her students were ever-the-eager to learn what knowledge she possessed.
With this story quest, we’ll know more about the differences between each of the Darshan studies within the Akademiya, and about Faruzan herself.
It’s Rerun Time!

Dehya (Left) and Mika (Right). Image from sg.news.yahoo.com
And now, for the exciting part! Two new characters will be introduced in Genshin Impact 3.5! Returning to 3.5 is 5-Star Pyro Claymore wielder, Dehya, who we previously befriended during the 3.0 Archon Quest. The Sumeru mercenary will come with a unique skill set:
- Fiery Sanctum (Skill): A pyro AOE field will be deployed. As long as allies remian within this field, defense will increase making charged attacks useful. However, should an ally take damage, that damage will be decreased and transferred to Deyha. But don’t worry, her passive talent allows her to recover health.
- Roaring Barrage (Burst): Upon activating her burst, Dehya will unleash a barrage of attacks on enemies, dealing pyro damage. This will allow for quick execution for attacks against tougher foes.
- Daytime Rush (Passive): Between the hours of 6am-6pm, Deyha will have an increased running speed, allowing Travelers to get from one location to another much faster than before.
Also returning for 3.5 is Favonius Surveyor of the Reconnaissance Company, Mika. Originally introduced in Of Ballads And Brews, Mika is a 4-Star Cryo Polearm wielder. Despite this, his attacks come with the addition of a Crossbow and a Catalyst. Quite the mulit-tasker, this one! Secondly, his skill set includes the following:
- Soulwind State (Skill): Mika will use his crossbow, generating energy particles. This state allows for increased attack speed and physical damage.
- Eagleplume (Burst): Using his Catalyst to activate his burst allows recovery of health. In addition, this carries to allies, and those effected by Eagleplume will recover health upon successfully hitting enemies.
- Utility Recon (Passive): While having Mika in the party, Travelers will be able to locate various resources unique to Mondstadt in the minimap. This’ll allow players to find level-up materials easier if neccessary.
Lastly, both characters will be available during one of the two phases: Dehya will be available during Phase 1, alongside the rerun of Cyno’s banner. Mika will be available during Phase 2, running alongside both Kamisato Ayaka and Shenhe. Needless to say, I think i’ll be attempting to recruit both people to help in my adventures!
May The Windblume Guide You!

After two years, we’ll finally be able to partake in the Windblume Festival once more! Now titled Windblumes Breath, travelers will have to complete unique challenges. In addition, familiar faces from Sumeru will arrive to help partake in the celebration. Collei, finally cured from her Eleazar, will also join us, hoping to reunite with Amber after so long. What’s more, it seems the young lady also discovered a supposed hidden prophecy, where they must light the Lantern Of Upmost Joy and receive a divine blessing.
Outside this main quest, travelers will be able to partake in a series of mini-games in order to receive various in-game rewards:
- Floral Pursuit: Gather nearby Windblume Balloons, and earn as many points as possible. However, there are Ersatz Balloons throughout the challenge. If you run into these, you will lose points and be sent right back to the start. Don’t worry, though. You’ll be able to obtain buffs to destroy them.
- Ballads Of Breeze: Travelers will be able to choose between the Lyre, Drum, or Zither to begin playing song challenges. Additionally, you can now also set up your own challenge in a new Editor Mode. This’ll allow you to create your own challenges and share them with fellow Travelers.
- Breezy Snapshots: Travel across Mondstadt and take amazing pictures during the Windblume Festival.
What is the mysterious prophecy? Will Collei reunite with Amber? Find out when Genshin Impact’s Windblume Festival returns March 1st.
Genshin Impact; Mondstadt Gets Spicy!

Spices of the West event guide. Image from gamewith.net
Another exciting event returning to Genshin Impact 3.5 is Spices From The West! During this event, Travelers will meet their fellow Sumeru scholar from the last event. This time around, it seems that her research in spices had caught the eye of Dori, allowing her to receive additional funding, continuing her research.
In this event, Travelers can add additional ingredients to already existing dishes, and feed them to their comrades in the Serenitea Pot. Depending on if that specific character likes that dish, this will result in increased friendship. By completeing this event, you’ll obtain Character Friendship EXP, Primogems, and other various rewards.

Return to the land of Sumeru, and prepare for an epic battle between Fungi and Machine! In Fungus Mechanicus, you’ll be controlling various Fungi to fight against different types of mechanical devices.
Set in a birds-eye-view angle, Fungi will begin to automatically attack nearby constructs. In addition, players also have access to Marvelous Jelly, allowing Fungi to unleash powerful elemental skills. If you recall the Fabulous Fungi Frenzy event, you’ll know just how useful this tool can be. Use commands to utilize their elemental energy, and defeat these enemies to earn rewards!
Vibro Crystals, Clear Thy Name!

Located just on the outskirts of the Chasm, a Fontaine researcher needs to study the harmonic balance between Transmitters and Receivers. It appears that during the Vibro Crystal Research event in Version 2.6, his colleague, Patrice, was accused of faking research. By helping this reasearcher, he’ll be able to clear his colleagues name.
At least, he hopes to. Just like before, players will be facing combat challenges against powerful foes. Use the Transmitters and Receivers in order to obtain buffs, and gain the upper hand in combat. Will you be bale to help clear Patrice’s name? Or, will his experiment result in a much deeper hole than before?
Improved Genshin Impact Gameplay!

Last, but certaintly not least, Genshin Impact will be updating and implementing some new gameplay features coming to 3.5. The first is the traditional Ley Line Overflow. For a specified time, Travelers will be able to obtain double the amount of EXP and Mora, in order to help improve leveling up characters.
Secondly, The Genius Invokation TCG will have another limited timed event, where the usual cost of character skills and card plays will have reduced Die usage. This will probably help those in tricky situations and perhaps even quicken the gameplay.
Lastly, as a permanent update, the Adventurers Handbook will grant players with additional rewards, upon completing specific quests and challenges. Hopefully players who’ve progressed a lot can get lots of wishing done in the upcoming banners.
And, that’s everything coming to Genshin Impact 3.5! Will we finally receive answers about what happened to Khaenri’ah 500 years ago? What is the mysterious prophecy Collei finds? Will she reunite with Amber? Find out when the update will commences March 1st!
