Ark: Survival Evolved Series To Launch This Year!

On December 23rd, 2022, the official Ark Youtube Channel launched a trailer for an upcoming animated series, based on their Ark: Survival Evolved game.

For those unaware, Ark: Survival Evolved is a online survival game, developed by Studio Wildcard, set on an island named the Ark. You play as an unnamed character tasked with one goal: Survive. You can tame dinosaurs, build safe houses, and even build clans. After launching in 2015, the game received high praises from the likes of Gamespot and IGN, noting the difficult, yet enjoyable content. Considering the reputation the game also earned amongst players worldwide, this is what some would consider a long time coming.

Therefore, we at Geek News Now will be providing you, fellow reader, with all the information regarding the upcoming animated series, and what to look forward to.

Ark: The Animated Series focuses on Helena Walker, a married Paleontologist in the 21st century. However, her life soon comes to a screeching halt when her wife, Victoria, passes away. After drinking late into the night, Walker awakes to find herself on a strange island known as the Ark. Here, she encounters a hunter named Bob, who begins to help her navigate around the island. With seemingly no way to return home, Helena sets a goal for herself to survive and seek the truth behind the Ark.

Production:

Ark: The Animated Series is produced by Lex+Otis, an animation company with close ties to Wildcard Studios, Netflix, and WagTV. With works related to the likes of Young Justice, Valorant, and even a scene from Teen Titans Go! where the Titans fight Darkseid, they sure do have quite the profile. Additionally, Jay Olivia (CEO), Kendall Davis (Lead Writer), and Marguerite Bennett (DC Comic Publisher) will assist in making the series as functional as possible.

Suprisingly, Helena isn’t even a new character. In fact, she was a character in the games’ lore, setting out on a quest to uncover the truth behind the Ark. To get an exclusive look at her story, check out the video here. With the release of this new series, we’ll finally get to explore how Helena ended up on the island, and her story of survival.

All-Star Cast:

Alongside the production team, Ark: The Animated Series is also set to receive a stellar, all-star casting:

  1. David Tennant (Doctor Who- 10th/14th Doctor, and Duck Tales- 2017) voices Sir Edmund Rockwell, the main antagonist of the series.
  2. Gerard Butler (300- 2007, and Gods of Egypt- 2016) will voice General Gaius Marcellus Nerva. A Romanian soldier, with a goal to take control of the island, asserting the name of Rome.
  3. Madeleine Madden (Dora- 2019, and Wheel of Time- 2021) is the star of the series, portraying Helena Walker.
  4. Elliot Page (X-Men The Last Stand– 2006, and Umbrella Academy– 2019) voices Victoria Walker, Helena’s wife.

And these are just some of the many talents that will be helping make the series come to life. With the likes of Vin Diesel and Russel Crowe also joining the roster, this show will definitely make a name for itself. Although Ark: The Animated Series has no official release date yet, I’m excited to see just what Studio Wildcard and Lex+Otis have in store this year.
