Genshin Impact 3.4 is well underway. On January 6th, Hoyoverse’s CEO Da Wei hosted the 3.4 Special Program. Alongside many of Hoyoverse’s staff members, we were greeted with numerous events, rewards, characters, and unique areas coming to the 3.4 update. With so much cover, join Geek News Now as we break down what we learned about the upcoming update, and what we can look forward to from the minds of Hoyoverse.
Genshin Impact; Let The Lantern Music Guide You!

That’s right, fellow Travelers! The Latern Rite Festival is returning again for an exciting new year. The Exquisite Night Chimes will take place in Liyue once again, accompanied by fantastic music hosted by Hu Tao and Xinyan. This time around, you’ll be assisting in preparing for the upcoming music festival.
In addition to Yelan, Xiao, and Venti, many more familiar faces will also be attending, so be on the lookout for some returning characters. Alongside the Lantern Rite Festival, you can also partake in the many festivities Genshin Impact has to offer. These include:
- Radiant Sparks: Collect various coins and balloons, utilizing a special technique to collect the trickier ones.
- Paper Theatre: Navigate a small paper character, leading to the exit of each level by rearranging the screen appropriately. Beware of traps that may trip you up.
- Floating Lanterns Mystique: Navigate through harsh environments, collecting numerous balloons and coins. Keep in mind the exploding fireworks around you, as they might hold significance later on.
- Lantern Rite: Battle a chain of fierce opponents, marked across the map in various locations throughout Liyue.
An addition to the usual Story Quest provided by the Lantern Rite, it is said that Cloud Retainer might also appear in a special form not usually seen by others.
Invitation To Party!

Finally, after completeing the following events, and accumulating Festival Ferver Points, you will then have the option to invite any of the following characters. From left to right, the invitations are as follows:
- Beidou
- Chongyun
- Ningguang
- Xiangling
- Xinyan
- Xinqiu
- Yanfei
- Yun Jin
- Yaoyao
Be cautious, though. You can only send ONE invitation, so be wise in who you invite. Considering Yaoyao is the latest chartacter introduced to Genshin Impact 3.4, I’m definitely going to invite the Dendro healer to add to my team.
Last, but certaintly not least, Travelers will also be able to receive Intertwined Fates during Lantern Rite through the Daily Login event. In addition, Hoyoverse will be sending an aditional 3 Intertwined Fates through the in-game mail, as thanks for showing support for their game. Alongside small rewards such as Mora, EXP books, and Enhancement Ore, this Lantern Rite looks to be quite the exciting event Genshin Impact has to offer.
Show Them What You’re Made Of!

Another exciting event coming to the 3.4 update is the inclusion of Warrior’s Spirit. During this trial, players are only allowed to use their main Traveler (Lumine or Aether), and compete in a 1v1 tournament. However, given that you’ll be fighting non-vision bearers, the Traveler will not have any of their elemental skills available. Instead, you will be receiving various buffs, including a parry technique in order to one-up your opponent. Rewards will vary depending on your progress. In addition, a new reward will include a Fontaine-inspired outfit for Kamisato Ayaka. Of course, this outfit requires Genesis Crystals in order to obtain it.
Test your skills, and prove you have what it takes to overthrow the competition!
Beetle Brawl Blitz!

With all the excitement and festivities happening in Liyue, Aratki Itto’s been busy with his own fun and games. The One And Oni is hosting an official/unofficial Almighty Arataki Itto Extreme Bettle Brawl. Previously introduced In Itto’s Story Quest Taurus Iracundus, Itto and the Traveler participated in a short-lived Bettle Brawl, where the strongest Onikabuto comes out on top.
Now that it’s official, the Traveler can now participate in a tournament-style 1v1 match, where the victor will receive special rewards. Do you have what it takes to show Arataki Itto what an Onikabuto can really do? Then be sure to find the strongest one, and bring it on!
Genshin Impact; Second Blooming

Sumeru seems to be hosting their own event as well, this year. Sumeru: Second Blooming is an event where the Traveler will go up against tough opponents with either their own team, or Trial Characters. In addition, you can also bring said trial characters to the next round, and provide unique buffs to improve combat capability. Upon completeing this event, not only are you gifted with the usual rewards, but you can also unlock a new Sumeru-inspired outfit for Lisa.

The Genius Invokation TCG also will be receiving two new updates after 3.4. The Card Plaza will allow players to view other people’s decks in order to gain useful information, as well as how to utilize each card in your deck.
In addtion, a new game mode titled Heated Battle Mode will be added. This mode skips the dice roll phase, and generates a random number of Elemental Die, including Omni Die. Consider it a luck-of-the-draw sort of gameplay.
Genshin Impact 3.4; Banner Reruns :

Of course we can’t have a new update to Genshin Impact without at least talking about the banner rerun phases. The 3.4 Update will be seperated into two unique phases. The first phase will have 5-Star Dendro Swordsman, Alhaitham, and 5-Star Anemo Polearm user, Xiao. Included alongside both 5-Stars is the Dendro Polearm user, Yaoyao.
Alhaitham’s skill, Elaboration on Form, deals Dendro damage to nearby opponents. In addition, this skill can build up to a total of three times, allowing further damage. His main Burst, Fetters on Phenomena, can deal AOE Dendro damage. Should his Chisel-Light Mirror skill be active with all three mirrors on the field, this will deal a massive amount of damage, with a slight chance to regenerate the used mirrors. However, should Alhaitham retreat from battle, this effect will disappear.
For Yaoyao, she is mainly a healer. An Adeptus Contraption named Yuegui assists Yaoyao in combat. The small rabbit will throw White Jade Radishes (Skill), and will heal characters within the AOE, depending on both the situation, and skill value. Secondly, Yaoyao’s Burst will send out multiple copies of Yuegui, allowing for further use of Yaoyao’s healing capabilities.
The second phase will have both 5-star Pyro Polearm user, Hu Tao, and 5-Star Hydro Lady Archer, Yelan. Although Yaoyao will only be available for wishing during the first half, it’s nice knowing you can still get her for free during the Lantern Rite Festival. And, seeing as how she was originally teased back in 2020, it’s nice knowing she’ll finally get a chance to shine in the spotlight.
Desert Of Hadramaveth:

Finally, let’s discuss the newest addition to Genshin Impact 3.4. The Desert of Hadramaveth is a new area added to Sumeru’s desert area. If you’ve explored Sumeru’s deserts by now, you might’ve already seen a giant sand tornado precariously moving outside the game’s border. Good news, the 3.4 Update will allow you to explore this now branched out area.
However, this time it’s different. The new area wrecked with unstable terrain, and vicious sandstorms, is home to unique sandstorms. These unpredictable weather conditions will temporarily nullify the Traveler’s vision, so tread carefully and be careful not to get lost. In order to unlock this new area, players are required to have already explored the Golden Slumber world quest in Sumeru Desert. There is also talk that this secluded part of the desert is home to one of King Deshret’s Secret Oases. Perhaps during your exploration, you’ll be able to discover one of these secluded locations and unlock more of the history of Sumeru.

In addition to the new area, you’ll also get to face off against the area’s World Boss: Setekh Wenut. This massive Wyrm-like creature not only buries itself into the ground to avoid attacks, but it can also obtain the power of Anemo in order to hover above for a specified amount of time.
The Setekh Wenut also can attack you by summoning Windbite Bullets, conducting swirl damage if afflicted by any additional element. Needless to say, this new world boss just might give the Chasm’s Ruin Serpent a run for its money.

Lastly, the Hadramaveth Desert is home to numerous new foes to conquer including new Elemental Eremites, and creatures known as the Consecrated Beasts. These enemies operate similar to that of the Geovishaps of Liyue, in which they can enter different forms of combat, depending on their elemental output.
With so much to look forward to involved with the Genshin Impact 3.4 Update, i’m really excited for the events, and rewards.
