So you took it easy this Thanksgiving with turkey and thankfulness. That’s great! Most major retail stores are closed for the holiday as well (for once). But now that bird is digested, your legs are getting restless, and you need some videogames. Black Friday is like a second Christmas for gamers (or pre-Christmas too). Many of us hold off on buying games throughout the year, hoping to be rewarded at the end of the year with big game discounts for our patience.
This year the savings are not as big as most years due to inflation and other economic factors. However there are some deals worth waking up on Friday for! Not sure how to navigate what retailer to go to for what games? Well, reader, I got you covered! Most of the big retailers open up Friday morning at 5:00 am (Walmart, Best Buy, etc.) so plan accordingly. Also you could just do online shopping from home, that’s always a warmer option. Let’s check the deals out!
First off there are some big deals that are worth knowing about before you make any major plans. This year the Xbox Series S is discounted for Black Friday exclusively down to $249.99. That’s $50 less than it’s usual price of $299.99. But it gets sweeter from there! Target is the only retail store that will throw in a $50 store gift card on top of the deal! Secondly, GameStop is doing a “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” on all pre-owned Xbox One and PS4 games. It’s not the best deal they have ever done but it is a nice way to round out your collection or a good way to stealthily add PS5/Xbox Series games if they come with a free current gen upgrade (Horizon Forbidden West, Borderlands 3, Death Stranding, etc.).
