Hogwarts Legacy Things You Need to Know

Since the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy back in 2020 there has been many trailers released. From the official trailer reveal back in 2020 to their most recent trailer of The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. There is so much to talk about when it comes to how different this game will be compared to the older ones.

Hogwarts Legacy New Game, new features

On its self-titled website, the game describes itself as “an immersive, open-world action RPG.” The game is fully explorable and for a lot of fans that something to get excited about. Allowing players to have free reign and explore iconic locations you either heard or saw in the books and movies. Like Hogsmeade village, the forbidden forest, and the great hall. You could even explore places that weren’t mentioned in the series like the kitchens. Though the game is set in the 1800’s there are still some characters that are from the books and movies that’ll pop up from time to time like Nearly Headless Nick.

Another thing that was added was character customization though it’s pretty standard with most action RPGs. Compared to the older Harry Potter games that mainly focused on the three main characters Harry Potter, Ronald Wesely, and Hermonie Granger. In this one the game focuses on the player’s created character and their experiences in Hogwarts allowing the player to live out their wizarding fantasy. Kind of similar to the Harry Potter mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

Flight, Classes, and Companions

Though this a single player game with no multiplayer or co-op elements. In this new game it looks like you can establish friendships with your companions like in Persona. Through these friendships you would be able to expand their abilities which in turn will help you as seen in the trailer Sebastian Sallow’s Dark LegacyIt shows how the player help’s Sebastian on his quest and in return he teaches the player some of the dark arts. One other feature that was added was classes not RPG classes though but rather school classes.

Just like in real school the player would have to go to class to increase your skills. However, that’s not the only way you can learn new spells it’s looks as though it’s the fastest way. In these classes you would learn charms, defense against the dark arts, herbology, potions, and engage in practice combat. Since you start the game pretty late as fifth year there are also side quests that are meant to help your character catch up to the other fifth years. Along with the classes and side quest you can level up your character with upgrades, talents, and skills. Like in every other roleplaying game however the upgrades are presented as cards under the talent’s menu.

Up next is flight. Though quidditch is not an added feature within the game players will be able to fly their brooms around Hogwarts. As confirmed by the games FAQ page but they make up for this by adding a class specifically for flying to get you accustomed with flying.

Magical Beast

Flying via broom does look like the main way you’ll be traveling around the area, but not your only way. As seen in the gameplay trailer, you’ll be able to mount magical beasts. Along with mounting them you can fight and tame them through the classes found at Hogwarts. You can even protect the ones that are injured or in danger from poachers and nurse them back to health.

Hogwarts Legacy will release on February 10, 2023, with preorders available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Are you excited for the new RPG game? Let us know in the comments below. For more gaming related news check out GNN stay geeky.
