On September 16th, during the 3.1 Genshin Impact Special, Hoyoverse CEO Da Wei, and Marketing Head Michael announced a HUGE project currently in the works. Ufotable, producer of Demon Slayer and Fate/Stay Night will be working alongside Mihoyo to produce an official Genshin Impact anime. Coupled with amazing graphics, character designs, and outstanding 3-D landscapes, the series will add a brand new perspective into the world of Teyvat.
However, this raises a few questions. Who will be the main protagonist? What actions will our hero take, or path that they choose to tread upon? Before we dive into that, allow us at Geek News Now to clarify a couple of points involving this upcoming series, by answering the first question:
What Is Genshin Impact?

For those not in the know, here’s the gist of it. Genshin Impact is a free-to-play online RPG. Set in the world of Teyvat, siblings Aether and Lumine arrived during the Great Cataclysm of Khaenri’ah. Attempting to leave, they are intercepted by an unknown goddess, and are seperated for 500 years. After awakening, the player, referred to as The Traveler, encounters a floating companion named Paimon, and embarks on a quest to find their lost sibling.
As much as I would love to dive deeper into the story, the game itself is just so vast with its numerous characters, unique quests, and diverse nations. If you would like to embark on a journey of your own, feel free to check out the official Hoyoverse Genshin webpage for further information, and try the game out for yourself. In the meantime, let’s continue on with the main discussion.

During the 3.1 Special Program, Hoyoverse announced an official Genshin Impact anime. This left many fans of the game excited for the upcoming project, but others left with questions. For example, in the RPG, players can either choose to play as Lumine, or Aether. While this doesn’t change the story all together, that still leaves as to who the producers will choose to take the main role. Will it be Lumine? Aether? Paimon?! Who knows. It would be funny if the little floating elf was a main character instead of the classic ‘Emergency Food’ joke.
I, for one, am very excited to see how Ufotable plans to write out the story for the world-traveling twins. Now, not much information was shared either during the Program or the official trailer, so a release date still sits far into the horizon. However, perhaps more information will come along as time passes.
If you’re also excited to see how Ufotable will handle this brand new adventure, leave a comment down below, we’d love to hear from you! Also, be sure to stop on by our Facebook page, as we keep our viewers up-to-date on the latest happenings.
May the wind guide you, fellow travelers. And, as always, Stay Geeky!
