Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release on November 19th for the Nintendo Switch. In just two days, trainers from all over will relive their Sinnoh journey all over again! However, an earlier release of the game on November 11th spurred some minor issues with gameplay. As a result, either some events seemed buggy, or some areas did not load correctly. Here at GNN, we will be discussing the games early release, and how to take caution while playing.
This article will contain spoilers, as some players are still unable to play the games until the official release date. So, I will refrain from using any images related to specific spoilers, to deter killing your hype for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Pokémon BDSP Main Issues:

We can’t really cover Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl without diving into its most important topic: Shiny Hunting. This is a method where players attempt to get specific encounters of odd-color Pokémon through various methods. Although, the shiny chances are a bit odd. Therefore, it’s possible they will patch the shiny encounters following the update to the game.
Secondly, Communication Features are currently disabled. This is possibly a precautionary measure, in order to ensure the security of online communications. For now, however, communicating with others is currently unavailable. This means things such as online battles and trades, conducted in the Union Room, won’t be possible until the game’s official release.
Lastly, the opening of the game. Players had posted online that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s intros were simply a blank screen. Thankfully, this will be fixed following the 1.1 update, where there will be an intro movie, as there should.
Mystery Gifts and Events:

There are confirmed in-game events in BDSP: Mythical Pokémon. Though it is known who these are, I wouldn’t try to get your hopes of encountering them until the official update. Secondly, the Mew and Jirachi event will be unavailable, as it also involves online communications. In order to acquire both of these Pokémon, you will need to have save data of both Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Sword. Or, you can also have its similar titles Let’s Go, Eevee! and Shield.
Similar issues included the health bar, Drifloon encounter at Valley Windworks, and fishing glitches. These are small things, but it should speak volumes on how much Nintendo cares about the release of this game. As of now, players are currently able to play Version 1.0. The next update, read as the Version 1.1 Update, will fix all issues and polish the game as necessary.
What Can I Learn From This?
Never play a game that has early launch dates! It shouldn’t matter if you get to play the game before your friends or family. Not only will you have to deal with the bugs and glitches, but there will come a point where the game becomes boring. And that’s no fun at all. It’s always important to put patience in front of your desires, before you throw your hard-earned cash at a potential waste of money.
As stated, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release on November 19th. I’m looking forward to reliving those glory days of Sinnoh, as I’m sure you are!
