Star Wars: KOTOR Gets Special Physical Editions

It’s a good time to be a Star Wars gaming fan, especially if you are fond of KOTOR (Knights Of The Old Republic). With a remake of the original KOTOR already in the works, and the recent Switch port being lauded as one of the best versions of the game, can things get any better? In short: Yes they can! Limited Run Gaming, a video game publisher known for working with big name developers to make special physical editions of games that would normally be restricted to digital distribution, will begin taking pre-orders this Friday for a special release of KOTOR.

KOTOR is one of gaming’s most beloved titles, and some would say the best Star Wars game of all time (including myself)! It won the 4th annual Game Developer’s Choice Awards (2004) for Game Of The Year. Time magazine even included it in it’s list of the 100 best games of all time. It is then no surprise at all that this would be one of the games that LRG has chosen for creating a special physical release ahead of the game’s 20th anniversary in 2023. But let’s take a look at the goodies that are included in the various versions of the game.

The Premium Switch Edition for $89.99

Premium Edition

Besides the regular physical copy of the game that will retail for $34.99, there are two other special editions (two there always are, no more, no less). The first one is the Limited Premium Edition ($89.99) that includes:

  • Physical copy of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Switch
  • Premium Foil Stamped Hard Cover Box
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic SteelBook
  • Reversible 18″ x 24″ Poster
  • Character Concept Art Cards
  • Light Side/ Dark Side Commemorative Coins
  • Certificate of Authenticity
  • Ebon Hawk Metal Pin

Which is pretty dang sweet in my opinion! If you are low on funds or restricted by space, but still want to show off your love for KOTOR, then this is the ideal version to get. However, if you want to really go big…

The Limited Master Edition at $174.99

Limited Master Edition

This is what you clicked on this article for, the Limited Master Edition! This version of the special physical release will set you back $174.99, but man is this one heck of a collector’s piece! Here is everything that is included in the Switch version:

  • Physical copy of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Master Edition for Switch
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic SteelBook
  • Throwback Case designed to store your game
  • Reversible 18″ x 24″ Poster
  • Character Concept Art Cards
  • Concept Art Lithographs
  • Ebon Hawk Metal Pin
  • Light Side/Dark Side Commemorative Coin
  • Certificate of Authenticity
  • Premium Hard Cover Strategy Guide
  • Darth Revan Miniature Hilt Replicas
  • Vibroblade Letter Opener
  • Replica Pazaak Set

The only difference between this version (Switch) and the PC version is that the PC version includes a “security spike” USB drive.

Release Info

Worried that you will have to camp at your computer to snag a copy? No worries! Limited Run Games will be having an open pre-order period starting this Friday and ending January 2nd 2022.
