Well call me “Veruca Salt”, because daddy I want this now!! In a recent showcase of wares, Hasbro made known their new Star Wars product: The Black Series Rey Skywalker Force FX Elite Lightsaber!

Let’s face it, we Star Wars fans need a new lightsaber replica to add to our collections. The Black Series Rey Skywalker Force FX Elite Lightsaber is another quality piece for consideration. Hasbro’s Black Series Force FX and Force FX Elite lightsabers are awesome to own whether they’re used as props for a cosplay or the decoration for one’s inner Star Wars sanctum.

I myself have a Force FX Rey (Jedi Training) lightsaber replica; though I admit I picked it out because I wanted as close to an Episode V Luke Skywalker lightsaber as I could get my hands on.

But this newest piece — replicated from Rey’s own lightsaber in the finale of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019) — has a cool style to it. The weapon looks like something Rey would have pieced together; meaning the hilt is like nothing we’ve seen before as lightsabers go. Many fans will of course remember how much it resembles the end corners of Rey’s fighting staff. While I don’t dig a lot about how they depicted Rey, I think it’s cool that she made such a choice for her own style and approach to this Jedi weapon; it shows she is her own Jedi.
The yellow blade, well… first time we saw that was with one Bastila Shan from the epic Knights of the Old Republic (2003) video game. Here, this color blade traditionally associated with a Jedi Sentinel, somehow feels unique. I see this lightsaber and I think “wandering nomad” type of wielder… and Rey certainly seems that way.

The lightsaber features a new twist-to-ignite function; something no other has. Though like many other lightsabers, this one has sound effects (battle clash and blaster deflect). It comes with a removable blade which has a molted blade tip feature; the hilt (with or without the blade) can be placed on a display stand for all to see.

The new saber combines advanced LEDs and sound effects. And Hasbro says they are “the most realistic Force FX Lightsabers yet.” So while the little ones will more than likely be begging for one, this special toy is recommended for ages 14 and up.
Sorry younglings… Looks like a Skywalker lightsaber just isn’t in your future at this time.
Bleedingcool.com says it became available for pre-order as of September 9th, 2021 at 1 PM EST; the item is due for a Spring 2022 release. Item cost is $264.99 and retailers like Hasbro are taking orders.

Rey fan or not, this lightsaber is awesome and I would gladly own one! Personally, I’d use it for a cosplay as a Tusken Jedi. This is something each Star Wars fan will want to own for its unique look and style! Give yours a cool backstory if you want; say it came from a desert wanderer Jedi! This is a solid lightsaber and I commend Hasbro on another quality Star Wars replica.
