Update: Lucasfilm released a statement via IGN saying that the job/title change actually happened quite a while ago, but they just very recently got around to updating their Leadership page on their website.

It appears that fan favorite creator and Star Wars guru Dave Filoni has a new title at Lucasfilm. According to the Lucasfilm website he is now taking on the role Executive Creative Director. Filoni is a household name among the Star Wars fanbase as he is responsible for shows like The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, and his current project The Bad Batch.

There has been significant outcry from parts of the fanbase since the Disney acquisition against current Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. One of the names that has come up that fans would like to see replace her is Filoni.  The specifics of his role as of yet are unclear however one could speculate that he is being groomed for the head position when and if Kathleen Kennedy retires. He is also currently working on The Book of Boba Fett a new series hitting Disney+ later this year. Congratulations are definitely in order to Mr. Filoni on his promotion and we, as always, can expect great things from him and his future with Lucasfilm.
