Mechagodzilla Glimpsed in Trailer

The rumored appearance of Mechagodzilla in the long-awaited “Godzilla vs Kong” blockbuster (no pun intended) can only add what fans are demanding from this smash hit (still no pun intended) movie.

More violence, more CGI, and in general more smashing of buildings, beings, and aircraft carriers.

This is not a movie that will get you thinking. This is not “Inception” with it’s many twists and turns. Nor is this a movie that will bring you to tears or bring home a metric ton of Oscar trophies. It’s Godzilla…vs…Kong.

What could a film involving two monsters hitting each other and smashing cities possibly need to make the destruction the fans crave even more epic? A third monster, of course. This one, obviously designed by man, will add another dimension of carnage that will bring the fans to their feet as even more buildings come crashing down.

MechaGodzilla appears to threaten humanity in this shot from Legendary Pictures.

The metal monster is a fictional mecha character that first appeared in the 1974 film “Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. In its debut appearance, Mechagodzilla is depicted as an extraterrestrial villain that confronts Godzilla. In subsequent iterations, Mechagodzilla is usually depicted as a man-made weapon designed to defend Japan from Godzilla.

Given the screenshots discovered online it is safe to say that his appearance is a foregone conclusion, which will only excite the fans even further. Throughout the franchise’s history, there have been several versions of the beast and each one more deadly than the last.

The “Showa” Mechagodzilla that was his big debut stood 50-meters (160 ft) in height and weighed 40,000 metric tons. It is built from “space titanium”, and is capable of launching missiles from its fingers, toes and knees, as well as firing energy beams from its eyes and chest unit. Its head can spin 360°, and can form a forcefield capable of repelling and shocking opponents.

The metallic titan’s appearance was leaked in early 2020 at an expo in Hong Kong showcasing toy releases from the film. However, there is a monstrous difference between seeing the toy and seeing it in the film. The leak also suggests another titan might be introduced to the film, which will, no doubt, add more of the violence and CGI-filled city-wrecking that they have been waiting for.

Hold on to your butts, this film will certainly dial the frenzy up to 11.

Does the rumored appearance of Mechagodzilla get your heart pumping? Or is this a terrible move and the movie should stay just Godzilla vs Kong? Drop a comment here or visit us on Facebook!
