Over the previous decade, we’ve seen plenty of Marvel movies released… But which ones were the best? The following are the best Marvel properties movies (both Marvel Cinematic Universe and otherwise) to come out between 2011-2020:
1. (2011) – Captain America: The First Avenger

This flick was a great telling of the first Avenger himself getting his start. We see him start out a brave sort, only to become more incensed with the desire to do what he feels is right with what he’s been given even when the time comes for him to make what he thinks will be the ultimate sacrifice. It has great moments of courage from lead Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and a marvelous villain in the Red Skull I wish we’d seen more of in other Cap movies.
2. (2012) – The Avengers

The film that brought the band together! After years of setting this up, Marvel Studios gave a fantastic adventure bringing together Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye! The movie was well done by Joss Whedon who usually knows how to pull together ensemble productions.
3. (2013) – The Wolverine

When Wolverine first got a solo movie, it was a disaster… This time was much better. The story was stronger, I actually cared about what was going on and things didn’t feel hokey or ridiculous even for a comic book-based movie. Logan is still a tough guy action hero and there’s much of him to enjoy.
4. (2014) – X-Men: Days of Future Past

A far-cry better than its predecessor because it finally decided what cinematic universe it wanted to be part of! Not only that, but it was a good story as well; based upon the story arc of the same name. It was pretty cool even a bit heartbreaking when older Magneto laments “All those years wasted fighting each other, Charles… To have a precious few of them back…”
5. (2015) – Avengers: Age of Ultron

This movie is your average “good guys must save the world” fare… Ultron played by James Spader is the big draw here, because he’s got this strange sort of charm about him all the time that you just enjoy. He oozes bad guy charisma and is actually rather funny at times like when Hulk intercepts him on the Quinjet.
6. (2016) – Deadpool

The Merc With a Mouth *finally* got a proper movie of his own! And didn’t we just love it!? After being in production limbo, and a lil’ “accidental” leak of a certain test animatic onto YouTube which had fans screaming for more, the right people got their heads together and made Deadpool happen and we’re still laughing at the crazy anti-hero’s antics even now as he hunts down “Francis”!
7. (2017) – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Perhaps better than the first Guardians movie? Family is an important theme in this movie; whether it’s spending time on Peter Quill and his father Ego or on Gamora and her sister Nebula… or on Quill and his *other* daddy Yondu!
8. (2018) – Black Panther

Black Panther was a solid Marvel flick which kicked a lot of butt; its story was strong and asked some good questions about right and wrong along with the power of authority. T’Challa was a good character who had questions to answer for himself once he learned not all was as it once seemed; and when the time for change came, he answered it the best way he could like a true king.
9. (2019) – Avengers: Endgame

Love it or not, it which had a lot of great moments, like when all the heroes gather and Captain America declares “Avengers… assemble!” The ending was a fitting send-off to perhaps the MCU’s two biggest players and honestly it should have all ended there.
10. (2020) – The New Mutants

This one wins the spot by default; no other Marvel movies came out this year! It’s as they say, an interesting blend of superhero-meets-horror… Creepy in places. But the last battle our heroes undertake to save Dani Moonstar (and themselves) near the end as the fight the Demon Bear is truly a tense, fast-paced ride!
