What a year it has been. There have been so many things happening this year that its hard to keep track of it all. Lego is no exception. According to Brickset there have been 46 Star Wars sets released this year. Everything from Micro-Fighters to Master Builder Series there was a little something for everyone this year but what were the best and the worst? Lets take a look. For the purposes of this list I have excluded promotional sets like the Nebulon B Frigate and the Death Star II Battle since those were not readily available to fans everywhere.
BEST:
Top of my list this year should come as no surprise to anyone who has read my articles. I of course am talking about the AT-AT set number 75288. This is far and away my absolute favorite vehicle in the Star Wars universe and I have loved every version that Lego has released. This set was of course released in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back. The build was amazing and the 2 major upgrades to the design were perfect. The first being the expanded cockpit area so that you could fit both drivers and General Veers. The second was the gears inside that when manipulated could actually raise Luke up to the bottom of the craft thus adding to the playability of the set.

Next up on my best list should also come as no surprise. It was a set so demanded by fans that Lego had no choice but to create one. It was also one of the hardest to find when it first released due to the number of fans buying mass quantities. Of course I am speaking of the 501st Battle Pack. The set included four 501st troopers, 2 droids, a speeder and a walker. The demand for these sets when they first released were people buying not for the purpose of scalping but rather building armies of the 501st.

WORST:
With the good comes the bad. The following set are not bad set by any means but to me they ranked the lowest because of superiority of the sets above them. First up is The Knights of Ren Transport set number 75284. The main draw of this set was to get the final two Knights of Ren minifigs. Other that it seemed like more of a throw away set. The title was very deceiving. Even though it is a transport and titled as such there is absolutely no built in space to transport anything. In fact there was barely enough room for the two Knights of Ren.

Finally we have set number 75283 The Armored Assault Tank (AAT). This could have been an amazing set but unfortunately designed poorly and the minifigs selection was goo but could have been a lot better. We did get a new Ahsoka figure based on the final season of The Clone Wars and there was a 332nd clone trooper from the final episodes, but only one. That was the problem. Loads of fans like to build armies with the battle packs and smaller sets like this one but with only one clone it makes it almost not worth it.

Honorable Mention:
The Razor Crest set number 75292 also deserves a mention here. This is an amazing set with some great minifigs. The build is truly awesome with loads of playable areas. So why did it not come in as my favorite? The only reason is because of one minifig. Every version of the mandalorion is him and not in his beskar armor. the same goes with this fig. I was really hoping for a fig of him in his current armor other than that it is an amazing set.
