I have a good feeling about this.
This is it! This is the game Star Wars fans have been waiting for. If you have ever wanted to take the controls of a starfighter, your opportunity is on the way. EA revealed its first trailer for Star Wars Squadrons on Monday, and it looks stellar! The time has come to get the squad together and become the best star pilots in the galaxy.

All Wings Report In
Star Wars Squadrons is set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. This means it will take place during the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. The New Republic fights for hope and freedom. The Empire fights for vengeance and domination. Only you can decide which side you will fight for. Players will compete in 5v5 multiplayer dogfights to decide the fate of the galaxy. Additionally, players can also squad up to take on “monumental fleet battles.” A handful of starfighters against a fleet of Star Destroyers? Count me in!
EA promises the ability to take control of various classes of starfighters. X-wings and TIE fighters are the most popular, of course. But you will also be able to pilot ships such as the A-wing and TIE bomber. Players will also be able to modify their ships, making each a personal extension of oneself. Earn rewards and unlock new weapons, engines, shields, and cosmetic items for your fighter. This is like a dream come true for Star Wars fans.
Unfortunately, the idea of unlocking rewards makes me concerned about micro-transactions. EA is known for their money-hungry ways, and if they include micro-transactions, the game will be lost. EA, if you are listening, please don’t do this to us. A battle pass system would work well in place of micro-transactions.
One of the biggest complaints in multiplayer games is the lack of a story mode. Squadrons blasts that apart by offering a “unique single-player Star Wars story, which covers a key campaign near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War.” One could theorize that this means the Battle of Endor, one of the biggest space battles in New Republic history.

Star Wars Squadrons is forming up to be the next great Star Wars game. The game is scheduled to launch on October 2, 2020 and will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will have cross-play support and be available on VR platforms.
Unfortunately, the trailer did not reveal any gameplay, so there is no way to judge what that will be like. For now. EA will host a gameplay world premiere on June 18 at 4PM PDT, so mark your calendars. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter as well to get the latest news on Star Wars Squadrons!
I am excited to get back behind the controls of my trusty X-wing. It has been far too long. Let us know your thoughts on this new game. Just don’t get too cocky, kid! Perhaps I will see you on the battlefield in October.
Until next time, stay geeky, my friends.
