Sony was rolling out the metaphorical red carpet at PAX East in Boston this year. Their list of playable games included Cloudpunk, Doom Eternal, Haven, The Last of Us Part 2 (first publicly playable demo), Marvel’s Iron Man VR, and the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Sadly, that carpet was pulled out in an update on the Playstation blog earlier today.
UPDATE: Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.
PAX East takes place from February 27 – March 1st. The virus has impacted other gaming events as Overwatch announced it will temporarily relocate its Chinese teams to South Korea, and Nintendo confirmed the outbreak will impact Animal Crossing: New Horizons shipments in Japan and production of the Nintendo Switch.
