Odo, Father Mulcahy, that crazy French chef from the animated Little Mermaid Disney movie, actor Rene Auberjonois has died at the age of 79. The actor died Sunday at his home in Los Angeles of metastatic lung cancer, his son Rèmy-Luc Auberjonois told The Associated Press.
He began his acting career in 1964 on “Lilith” in an uncredited role. Over the next 50 years, he would enjoy a large number of roles including appearing most recently in several episodes of “Madam Secretary”. His first significant role came in the MASH movie as Father John Mulcahy.
Rene played the role of Father Mulcahy in the MASH movie.
For sci-fi fans of the 1990s and convention-goers ever since, he was Odo, the shape-shifting Changeling and head of space-station security on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He was a principal character on the show, appearing in makeup and prosthetics throughout the seven season series.
“I’ve never thought of Odo as a heroic character,” he said. “But it’s great if you do.”

He also did voice work for a number of series, appearing in “Pound Puppies”, “Avengers Assemble”, “Ben 10: Omniverse”, and “Archer”.
